Year One - "Look, there's ice!"

Overnight, the water in the water tray froze, and the children have had a great time exploring the ice. They noticed that the ice was transparent ("I can see you"), and some children were fascinated by watching it melt over time.

In addition, other children decided to create Arctic and Antarctica environments in different water trays. To support their exploration, we used a Maps book to identify which animals live in each of these regions. We also discussed how the Arctic is located in the northern part of the map, while Antarctica is found in the southern part.
