Posted by It’s art week and we are completing this year’s Take One Picture project. We’ve been studying the painting A Shipwreck In Stormy Seas by Claude-Joseph Vernet.
We’ve begun the week by observing moving water. First we observed water being poured and had a go drawing this with gestural marks.
Then we watched videos and listened to audio clips of stormy seas and explored different ways to represent fast moving water, the strong waves, water spray and the intense energy of the water in the painting. Finally we added water to the graphite, turning some gestural marks into ink.
