St George’s Day in Reception Rowan

Posted by

In Rowan class we read the story of George and the Dragon to find out a little more about today’s celebration. We also watched a video to see how people celebrate St George’s Day now. We were really inspired by watching people re-enact the story, and so everyone made shields and swords to take on the roll of St George. We also needed a dragon, so we used a box and painted it bright colours, adding pencil shaving ‘glitter’ as the scales. In the afternoon, the children set up a big stage using the blocks and lined up to take it in turns to fight the dragon. In the end, the dragon was captured and became the knight’s pet. I was blown away by everyone’s amazing creativity! Happy St George’s Day!
