Today Ashmead competed in their first competitive tournament of the year at the annual Lewisham borough quicksticks tournament at Sydenham High School.
Spirits were high with 19 schools in attendance. Ashmead came out strong with a 4-0 lead and maintained this throughout their matches drawing with strong defending with no losses and coming third in their division pool.
One of five spirit awards was awarded to a team player for displaying tremendous determination throughout their games. Spirit awards are given to five selected children from the tournament noticed for their sporting attributes: pride, passion, self believe, determination and team spirit.
Great start to the year, our next competition will be sports hall athletics after half term.
