Today we learnt about weathering and the three types of rocks: sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous.
We made model rocks out of starburst sweets to show the process of the rock cycle. Here we are cutting up our starburst to represent weathering and erosion.
Then, we layered our starburst rock particles and put pressure on them to create sedimentary rocks. Some of us even shared a few of our particles with our partners to create more layers.
Next, we created metamorphic rocks using heat and pressure from our hands. We squashed and squeezed our rocks so that they became impermeable.
Last, we watched a video about how igneous rocks are formed. We realised that our hands were never going to create that much heat to create starburst igneous rocks but we had fun anyway.
