Our subject focus this week was RE. We focussed on Hinduism – the story of Rama and Sita and the festival of Diwali.
We made our own books retelling the story of Rama and Sita but we didn’t stop there. Some of us made our own plays retelling the story, complete with tickets for the audience and popcorn! We loved the intricate mendhi designs and made some of our own. Some of us explored making a moveable hand puppet. The small world area was used to create the scene of the great battle, with a bridge that got better and better each day as well as extra details like tiny diyas lamps.
We found our local mandir, the Lewisham Sovan Kovil, and created it out of blocks.
We enjoyed using the non-fiction texts to add details to all of our projects.
